Safety and safeguarding
How we keep students safe.
Every school should read this page first. This is how X-Factor-Ed runs experiences outside the classroom.
Approval through your school’s own process
All trips go through the school’s own approval process. The 2026 Wangaratta High School trip completed the Victorian Department of Education’s process, including child protection and safeguarding, and the principal signed off every risk assessment.
Risk assessed by someone who has knowledge on the ground
Harry has organised school trips for decades, including as a deputy head responsible for a whole school’s program outside the classroom, and he has intimate knowledge and understanding of Peru from nearly three decades of living and working there.
Supervision
Supervision is planned trip by trip and set out in the risk assessment your school signs off. For example, the 2026 Wangaratta High School trip was approved through the Victorian Department of Education’s process, with one adult to every ten students and never fewer than two.
Insurance
Schools take out the travel insurance their own system requires. For independent schools, cover is arranged to protect both the school and X-Factor-Ed.
Medical cover and evacuation
Planned for every trip and documented in the risk assessment before anyone leaves.
Photos of students
Images of students are published only with specific written consent from parents, using first names and school only.
Documents on request
Schools can see our risk assessments, risk-management policy and communication policy before committing to anything.
Our Safeguarding and Child Safety Policy is being finalised and will be published here shortly.
